Lawrence Anthony Roya

Lawrence Anthony Roya “Larry,” 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at home with his family by his side.  Larry was born on August 21, 1949 to Felix and Amelian Hargrave Roya in Gueydan, LA.  He was a graduate of Westlake High School and McNeese State University.

Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired as an Operator with Conoco-Phillips after 20 years of service.  He was an avid bowler, and served in many capacities on local, state and southern bowling associations.  He greatly enjoyed coaching youth bowling.  Larry was also a lifelong McNeese Cowboys fan.  He had season tickets, and rarely missed a game.

He will be remembered as a selfless and generous man who never met a stranger.  He gladly gave his time, talent and treasure to anyone in need, especially kids.  Above all, he adored his great grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Aurelia “Peanut” Roya; his children, Billie Jo Ingram (Billy), Alyece Fralick (Chad), Tony Roya (Becca) and Chasidy Ruiz (Jordan); his siblings, Dean Roya (Mary), Jean Brewington, Oliva McDaniel, Linda Martin and Clifford Roya (Fran); grandchildren, Alina Hicks (Lloyd), Hunter Fontenot (Chauncey), Madison St. Romain (Casey), Stephen Ingram, and Nicholas Kirby; great grandchildren, Ronan, Jordan, Gordon, Wren, Leighton, and Olivia; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Geno Lejeune and John Roya.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 1, 2021 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, located at 1301 Sampson St., Westlake, LA.  Father Jenesh Joseph will serve as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until leaving in procession to the church.
