Layton Buggie Cole Stroud earned his wings on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the age of 5.
Born in Branson, Missouri, Layton spent the majority of his life in Lake Charles. Layton never met a stranger, and touched the hearts of everyone he came into contact with. Some of Layton's favorite things were: Mickey Mouse, chicken nuggets, singing, spending time with his Granny and Paw-Paw Gene, and weekend trips to the Piccadilly. A Pre-K student at A.A. Nelson Elementary, Layton loved spending his school days with his teachers and classmates. Although Layton was visually impaired, his eyes were donated so that someone else could have the gift of sight.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memory are his mother, Ashley Marie Stroud; his maternal grandmother, Cindy Benevage Stroud; his aunt, Lindsey Nanny Stroud; maternal great grandparents, Dorothy and Gene Ammons, all of Lake Charles; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Stroud and uncle Ryan Stroud, all of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; great uncles Randy Benevage of Brandon, Mississippi and Rusty Benevage, also of Lake Charles; as well a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Ruben Buller will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of New Orleans, http://www.chnola.org/giving
