Leade Faulk

July 11, 1918 — January 17, 2015

Leade Faulk of Sulphur passed away early Saturday morning, Jan 17, 2015, at the age of 96. Left behind to mourn her loss are 2 daughters, Mary Blencowe (husband Paul), and Kathleen Faulk; 3 beloved grandchildren Kristin, Alison, and Caitlin; her sister-in-law Anna Belle Clark of Lake Charles and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Leade in death were her husband Edward, her son Gerald, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. After graduating as valedictorian from Kaplan High she attended SLI. She has been a Sulphur resident since the early 50's. Leade was a devoted member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. She attended Mass there faithfully until her health started to decline. Leade was a member of her church's Altar Society, Legion of Mary, and Block Rosary group. She made hundreds of rosaries by hand for 16 years, for her Legion of Mary group to give away. Leade volunteered as a Pink Lady, with the Cal Cam Hospital Auxiliary for 28 years, working at the front desk and making deliveries to patient's rooms. She was a member of the Holy Angels School Parent's association. Leade was a hard working, prayerful, and thrifty woman who loved her family and home. She worked hard keeping her home and yard neat and trim. She enjoyed working in her yard and always had a nice vegetable garden and beautiful flower beds. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. Leade was always doing something for her family. She would make ice box fruitcakes and other treats for them every holiday. She would alter their clothes and mend for them. Leade made a memorable pilgrimage to Europe several years ago. She visited Lourdes, Fatima, and Rome. Leade was very healthy and active until later in life. She has had several health problems during her last years and has been cared for by countless doctors, nurses, therapists, and aides. Leade loved and appreciated all the people who cared for and helped her. Special thanks to all the good, kind, caring people who watched after Leade and assisted her in her later years. Services for Leade will be held on Saturday January 24,2015 at 1 pm at Our Lady of LaSalette Church with Father Andrews Kollannoor officiating.
