Lee John Miller, 89, of Lake Charles, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 in a Veteran's home in Jennings, LA.
Mr. Miller was born in Grand Chenier, LA to Clodia (Boudoin) and Drozan Miller. He lived sixty-seven years in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Grand Chenier High School and was an Engineering major at SLI in Lafayette. Mr. Miller served in the United States Navy from 1942 1945 as an Electrician's Mate operating the gyroscope aboard the aircraft carrier USS Marcus Island in the South Pacific. He returned to Louisiana in 1945 to work at Gas Appliance Company. Mr. Miller was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Air Craft Carrier Association and LP Gas Association. He was a member of the Catholic faith and, in his later years, had a great devotion to the rosary.
He leaves to honor his memory, two daughters, Gladys A. Miller of Lake Charles and husband Franklin Jones of Lake Charles and Theresa M. Miller and husband John Watts of Sugar Land, TX; two grandsons, Thomas L. Jones of Lake Charles and Matthew J.L. Watts of Sugar Land, TX and one sister, Ella Mae (T-Mae) Booth of Grand Chenier.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Oma McCall Miller and one sister, Corrine Granger .
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00 AM until 1:40PM in the funeral home.
