Lee Roy Douget, Sr., 88, of Lake Charles, LA, died peacefully at 8:30 PM on Saturday, July 4, 2015 surrounded by his family in his residence. Lee Roy was born September 19, 1926 in Beaver, LA and was a graduate of Pine Prairie High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman onboard the USS Pensacola. He moved to Lake Charles in 1948. He retired from Exxon after thirty-two years of service as a petroleum transport driver. Lee Roy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the VFW and the Lake Charles C.B. Club, where everyone knew him as "Tiger." He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife and enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden. Lee Roy also was an avid woodworker who enjoyed making porch swings and gliders, but his greatest joy was his family. Mr. Douget is survived by his sons, Gilbert Paul Douget and wife Maritza of Houston, TX and Lee Roy Douget, Jr. and wife Carol Lee of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; close friend, Anna McKee of Pineville, LA; and a host of other friends, relatives and church family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Dupin Douget; daughters, Janet Douget Guillory and Barbara "Dee Dee" Douget Welch; parents, Paul and Frances Douget; sisters, Addie Campbell and Beulah Martin; and brother, Gilbert Douget. His memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve James will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the nurses and staff at Lake Area Medical Center ICU, especially Darren and Brittney, and also the staff of Heart of Hospice and Mandy for the care and love given. They would also like to give a special word of thanks to Maritza Douget, Carol Lee Douget, and Anna McKee for everything that they have done.
