Funeral services for Mrs. Leita B. Bridges, 90, will be at 10 A.M. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Bruce and Rev. Michael Linton officiating. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home and will resume on Thursday at 8 A.M. at the funeral until time of the service.
Mrs. Bridges passed away on March 7, 2017 in a local assisted living facility. She was a native of Farmerville, LA and a life-long resident of Sulphur. Leita graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (LA Tech) with a degree in education and taught business classes at Sulphur High School for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur where she taught Sunday school. Leita was also a member of the Agin’ Cajuns, Sigma Kappa Sorority, and the Sulphur Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and visiting. During her years at Stonebridge, she loved being the cheerleader for her fellow residents.
Survivors include her 3 sons, Clifton Wesley Bridges, Jr. and wife Vickie of Magnolia, TX, Steven E. Bridges of League City, TX, and John A. Bridges and wife Koni of Sulphur; brother, Robert Baker of West Monroe; sister, Carol Robinson of Monroe; 6 grandchildren, Josh, Sarah, Garrett, Meagan, Grant, and Jacob Bridges; and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifton Wesley Bridges, Sr.; and parents, Clarence and Nina Baker. The family would like to thank the staff at Stonebridge and her dedicated sitters for taking such good care of their mother.
