Lela Marie Parsons Long

Lela Marie Parsons Long was received into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 4:30am.

She was born on May 18, 1929 in Flora, LA to Grover Lewis and Sarah Jane Parsons. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she enjoyed canning, making jelly and crocheting. She was dedicated to her relationship with the Lord.

Lela is survived by her son, Vernon Timothy Long (Marsha) of St. Petersburg, FL; her daughter, Joanna Marie Lyons (Robert) of Greenfield, IN; granddaughter, Greta Marie Layne (Jacob); one great-grandson, Robert James Joseph Layne of Greenfield, IN; brother, G.L. Parsons (Ann) of Utah; sisters, E. Joyce Truitt of Greenfield, IN and Bonnie Owen of Biloxi, MS; and many nieces and nephews. 

Preceding Ms. Lela in death was her husband, Vernon Long; her parents Grover Lewis and Sarah Jane; sisters, Delores Ilgehart and Amelia Raleigh; brothers, Little Vernon Parsons, Floy Parsons, Alvin Parsons and Troy Parsons.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Charles Dodd and Mr. Richard Hood officiating. Final resting place will follow the service in Old Richie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
