Lena Derouen, 92, of Lacassine died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in her residence.
Mrs. Derouen was born on January 12, 1921 in Fenton, LA and lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She worked for the Lake Charles American Press for ten years. She attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and also Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Mrs. Derouen enjoyed sewing and baking.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Betty Billedeaux of Minden, LA, Juanita Weber and husband George of Sulphur, and Susan Neco and husband James of Medina, OH; three sons, Ronald Derouen and wife Carol of Carencro, and Wendall and John Kevin Derouen both of Lacassine; two sisters, Annie Benoit of Iowa and Ida Trahan and husband J.B. of Jennings; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman R. Derouen; a son, James Patrick Derouen; and two brothers, Wilbur and William Vidrine.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Ruben Buller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 10:45 AM.
