Lena Jane Bertrand

Lena Jane Bertrand, 91, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 30, 2022, in the comfort of her home.

Lena was a native of Crowley, Louisiana and a longtime resident of the Lake Charles area. She was graduate of Marion High School, where she lettered in basketball. She was also named Miss Lake Charles her senior year in high school. She and her late husband, Louis, owned a florist in Vinton before moving back to Lake Charles where she managed University Florist for many years. After working in the floral industry most of her life and before retiring, she professionally instructed numerous students in the art of floral design. Lena was of the Catholic Faith and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Preceding Lena in death are her beloved husband of 67 years, Louis Bertrand; parents, Whitney L. and Nita Cormier Romero; sister, Evelyn McCain; brother, Roland Romero and son in law, Terry Stevens. Those left to Honor and cherish her memory are her children, Terry Bertrand (Melody), Jennings, LA; Ronald Bertrand (Donna), Houston, TX; Kenneth Bertrand (Janet), Sulphur, LA; and Nancy Stevens, Sulphur and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 6, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, with a rosary the recited at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
