Lena Mae Conner, 86, of Hayes, LA died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Emeritus of Lake Charles. Lena was born on October 6, 1927 in Jennings, LA to Alfred and Evella Cormier, and lived in Hayes after marrying Wilbert Percy Conner. Lena worked for the Calcasieu Parish School System as a Cafeteria worker for 25 years. Lena was a member of St. Daniel altar society and worked on the Hayes Bazzars in the food area. She belonged to the St. Daniel Catholic Church which later was integrated with St. John Vianney Church. She taught CCD and participated with the ladies altar society to clean the church. She loved to raise roses, cook, dance, and have get-togethers with her family. She also loved to sew for her girls and her family. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Linda LeJeune and husband Stephen of Lake Charles, and Brenda Faye Yerger and husband Duncan of Houston, TX; one son, Donald Wayne Conner and wife Helen Jane of Jennings ; one sister in law, Sylvia Cormier of Jennings; six grand children, Leon LeJeune and wife Tammy, Stephen LeJeune III and wife Brooke, Millicent Trahan and husband Johnnie, Donald Conner Jr., Kevin Conner and wife Stefani, Brian Conner and wife Gina; fourteen great grand children, Tyler LeJeune, Hunter LeJeune, Alexander LeJeune, Chance LeJeune, Hope LeJeune, Evan Trahan, Nathon Trahan, Adriana Trahan, Scott Conner, Aaron Conner, Kyler Conner, Isabelle Conner, Dylan and Hayley Conner. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of fifty plus years, Wilbert Conner; and two brothers, Dallas Cormier and Homer Cormier; and one grandson, Scott Conner. A Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a 6:00 PM rosary being prayed by Ms. Esther Harrington. Visitation will resume Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Hayes Cemetery. Father Emmanuel Tanu will officiate services. Pallbearers will be, Millicent Lena Trahan, Stephen LeJeune III, Leon LeJeune, Kevin Conner, Brian Conner, and Scott Conner. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate and loving care provided Ms. Lena Mae Conner over the years by the staff at Emeritus, Dr. Michael Seep, Dr. Michael Turner, and the Synergy Home Health Staff, and the Christus Hospice staff that took care of her.
