Lena Mae Tommasi

Lena Mae Tommasi, 82, of Lake Charles died at 2:24 AM on Monday, April 22, 2013 in her residence.


Mrs. Tommasi was born on March 16, 1931 in Duson, LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. Mrs. Tommasi began volunteering at Crossroads Bookstore before becoming employed until 2006. She was an elections commissioner for Calcasieu Parish.


She was a member of the Amicus Club and belonged to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mrs. Tommasi enjoyed gardening, shopping, and reading religious literature.


Those left to cherish her memory are seven children, Rose Tommasi, Tony Tommasi and wife, Kathy, Debra Lynn Savoie and husband Dennis, Tina Arendt and Larry, Steve Tommasi and wife Stephanie, Russell Tommasi and wife Tammy, and Randall Tommasi all of Lake Charles; three siblings, Shirleen Sahuallah of Beaumont, TX, Lee Baronet of Corolla, NC, and Jane Meche of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Louis Tommasi; a son, Harry Tommasi; her parents, Isaure and Fernest Baronet; a brother, Nelson Baronet; and a grandson, Shane Tommasi.


A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 12:45 PM.
