Lena Marie Comeaux

With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Lena T. Comeaux on February 16, 2023 at the age of 87, our loving and devoted wife, mother, granny, great granny to all whose lives she touched.

She was born on June 27, 1935 to Duplichain and Odette Newman Trahan.  Lena attended LaGrange High School.  Her exceptional intelligence led her to become a scholar, majoring in education and earning a Master’s Degree Plus 30 at McNeese State University.  She taught 3^rd grade at Kaufman Elementary School until her retirement in 1992.  Helping and encouraging her students to be their best was her top priority.  Mom and Dad spent their retirement traveling all over the country and abroad.  They had so much fun and enjoyed every moment together.

Her proudest achievements were her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She spent countless hours teaching, nurturing and caring for them.  Mitchell and Misty loved and adored their Granny.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her loving and very special husband, Edward Comeaux; her daughter, Penny McFatter (George); her grandson, Mitchell McFatter (Carla); her granddaughter, Misty Thibodeaux (Cody); her great grandsons, Brock, Levi and Maddox; her brother, Charles Trahan; and her sisters, Doris Reed and Betty Bacon.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Landry, the nurses and staff of Avail Hospital, The Lodge and The Guardian for their care and compassion.

A private funeral service and burial has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
