Lena Mott Young, 86, of Lake Charles died at 2:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in a Welsh nursing home. Mrs. Young was born in Basile, LA on January 3, 1928 and had lived in Lake Charles for more than 75 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and was very devoted to her faith. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved family gatherings, cooking, sports, and French music. Mrs. Young was a devoted mother and grandmother and was their biggest fan at all family events. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Anita Prejean; two sons, Ronald James Young and Mark Jeffery Young and wife Angie all of Lake Charles; four brothers, Nelson, Adras Jr., Murray, and Richard Mott; two sisters, Bertha Truett and Helen Holmes; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Young; her parents, Adras Mott, Sr. and Bertha Benoit; two brothers, Wilmer and Wilford Mott; a sister, Anna Mae Soileau; and a grandson, Jacob Young. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Jeff Starkovich will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM followed by a prayer service. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until leaving for the church at 2:30 PM.
