Leon Washington Jr., 51, of Keller, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in his home surrounded by those who loved him. 

He was born on April 4, 1970, in Rochester, NY to Leon and Dorothy (Marshall) Washington.  Leon attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1993, and later received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1997.  During his time at Tuskegee, Leon was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. on April 9, 1990 via the Iota Omega Chapter.  As a part of this initiation, he and his fellow initiates reactivated the Lambda Epsilon Chapter on the campus of Tuskegee University.  After college, Leon worked for Corning Incorporated in Corning, NY, where he had a promising engineering career.  At the end of 2015, he moved into the Plant Engineering Manager role at which time he and his family moved to Keller, TX.

Leon was a quiet but highly intelligent individual who may not have said much but was very impactful with a few well-placed words.  He was a loving father who supported his children in the many activities and interests they pursued while focusing on helping them prepare and understand how to navigate their way through life.    He was a loving and patient husband who always provided encouragement and support.  He was a devoted and loyal son/ brother/friend who valued those close to him never taking those in his circle for granted. He loved traveling, trying new foods, and vacationing in the Caribbean while spending time on the beach with family.  He had a passion for road biking and would spend hours on his bike on group and charity rides.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Washington.

Those left to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 20 years, Kimberly (Pete) Washington; daughters, Marcel and Mikayla Washington; son, Brayden Washington; sister, Gwendolyn Washington and sons of San Antonio, TX and Rochester, NY; his in-laws, Herbert and Thail Pete of Lake Charles, LA; sister in law, Kimberely Washington and three sons of Rochester, NY; along with a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Theodore Catholic Church.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Saturday in the church from 12:30 PM until the start of the service.
