Leonard Earl Detwiler

January 15, 1942 — September 7, 2013

Leonard Earl Detwiler, 71, of Moss Bluff passed away Saturday, September 07, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.

Mr. Detwiler was born and raised in Hamilton, OH. He settled in Lake Charles in late 1990's. He served in the United States Army for twenty-six years, served three tours in Vietnam and retired as WO4, during which time he also attained his Bachelor degree in Accounting. Following his military retirement, Mr. Detwiler worked for PPG Industries as and Operator, retiring again in 2004. He had a genuine love for nature and animals and especially loved his baby dog, Jet. Mr. Detwiler was a loving husband, father and grandfather whom took great pride in his family.

He leaves to honor his family, his wife, Vicki Detwiler of Moss Bluff; nine children, Michael Detwiler of Harleysville, PA, John Seek of Olympia, WA, Larry Detwiler of North Fort, FL, Sandy McGinnis of Reo Rancho, NM, Amanda Anderson of Moss Bluff; Julia Detwiler of Germany, Charlee Dacenzo of Marietta, PA, Kelli Anderson of Moss Bluff and Kyle Craddock of DeRidder; eighteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Roysden of Hamilton, OH and Gerty Simmons of Cincinnati, OH and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Detwiler; two brothers and two sisters, Robert Detwiler, Hazel Meyers, Fred Simmons and Marion Lucille Simmons.

Arrangements for cremation for inurnment in Greenwood National Cemetery in Hamilton, OH were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
