Leonard (Johnny) “Pops” Arsement passed away on December 28, 2017 in a Houston, TX hospital.
He was born to Leroy and Bertha Doucet Arsement on December 7, 1945 in Lake Charles Louisiana.
He was a standout all state athlete in football and baseball at Landry High School and maintained his friendships with his fellow team members and classmates after graduation. He will be remembered as a selfless man who made friends everywhere he went and is said to have never met a stranger. He enjoyed coaching his grandchildren in softball and was passionate about building houses in his spare time.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Weathersby Arsement; children, Aprille Daigle (Mike), Jolene Powell (Jason); stepchildren, Jeffrey Limbocker (Linda), Julee Spann (David), Don LaBorde; grandchildren, Megan, Hunter, Nick, Josie, Jadyn, Jenna, Jonathan; step grandchildren, Shelby, David, Jack, Jacob, Ben; brother, Sonny Arsement (Madeline); sisters, Judy Evans (and the late Tommy Evans), Brenda Schexnider (Mike), and Debbie Hoover (Tommy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 40 years, Dollie Arsement.
His funeral service will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday December 31, 2017 at 2 PM. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Sunday from 11 AM until the start of the service.
The family would like to thank the staff of Baylor/St. Luke’s Medical Center I.C.U. in 8 Cooley A and B for their loving care and kindness.
