Leslie J. Blanchard, 68, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:42 PM, Saturday, November 3, 2012 in a local hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. Mr. Blanchard was a very proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Disabled American Veterans serving as past Commander. He was also a member of W. B. Williamson American Legion Post 1. Mr. Blanchard was an avid car collector and member of the Idlers Car Club and the Antique Car Club. His greatest joy in life was his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Linda Faver Blanchard; son, Leslie A. Blanchard and wife Kimberly; two daughters, Christina B. Schopen and husband Kenneth, and Denise Peshoff and husband Chad; five grandchildren, Allison, Drew, and Anna Kay Blanchard and Grant and Karli Peshoff; two sisters, Ida May Trahan and husband Allen and Rose May Clement and husband Johnny; two brothers, Nolance Blanchard Jr. and wife Irene and Wesley Blanchard and wife Patricia. He is preceded in death byhis parents, Nolance, Sr. and Ida Blanchard and one brother L. J. Blanchard.
His funeral will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Very Reverend Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, with a rosary at 6:00 PM, with Deacon Glenn Viau officiating and continue from 9:00 AM until time of service, Tuesday, in the funeral home.
