Lester Bourque

Lester Bourque, 78, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family.

 

Mr. Bourque was born on August 11, 1938. He graduated from Youngsville High School in Youngsville, Louisiana where his mother’s family resides. He is well known in the Lake area for his expertise and excellence as a painter. He retired from contract painting in 2010, but was always most comfortable helping family and friends with a paint brush in hand. He loved hunting, fishing, LSU Tiger football and baseball, and Cajun-French music. One of his greatest loves was coaching girls’ softball, especially impacting the lives of the girls beyond the ball field. He enjoyed frying fish for his family and he was always happiest when his family was all together.

 

Mr. Bourque is survived by the mother of his children, Susie (Vada Sue Mere) Bourque; one son Daron (Muthi) Bourque; three daughters Devaney (Greg) Jones, Kimberly (Bob) Laflin, and Kelly (Chris) Fontenot; siblings Wade (Mary Nell) Bourque, Alex Bourque, and Mildred Bourque; five grandchildren, Ryan (Lisa), Heather (Brad), Lauren (Tony), Michael, and Logan; one great-grandchild, Ethan; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved.

 

He is preceded in death by his father, Moise Bourque; his mother, Elena Bourque; and his brother, Bernice Bourque.

 

A funeral service will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana at 12 p.m. on Jun 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 2, 2017. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, immediately following the funeral service.

 

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Landmark Nursing Facility and Heart of Hospice. The family is grateful for the love and support of extended family and friends, especially nieces, Sandy Bel and Leslie Comeaux.
