Lester "Gene" Eugene Woods, 63, of Lake Charles, LA died at 10:35 AM on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at a local hospital.
Born July 30, 1947 in Houston, TX, Mr. Woods was a 1964 graduate of DeQuincy High School and lived in Lake Charles for the past thirty-two years. He began his career in Singapore, where he worked as the supervisor of his crew for a seismograph company. He then graduated from Sowela Technical School with his associate's degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Technology. Mr. Woods worked eleven years at the Hackberry Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He possessed a love for music, spending eight years in the Evangeline Made Band. He will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and for his helping of others.
Mr. Woods is survived by his sons, Garret Woods and Briton Woods and wife Anna, all of Lake Charles; daughter, LaDetra Ilise Billiot of Franklin, LA; brother, Norman Charles Woods; mother of his children, Mary Beth Pankiewicz, all of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Trinity, Leyton, and Tyson Woods and Larry Joseph Billiot, III and Nesqua LeAnn Fields.
His memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
