Lester Stanley, 86, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Lester was born in Chicago, IL on June 22, 1931 to Stephen and Stella Pollard Stanley.
Lester grew up in Sulphur, LA and attended Frasch Elementary School and was an active member of Our Lady Prompt Succor Church where he served as an altar boy and was a member of The Catholic Youth Organization. He graduated from Sulphur High School and went on to attend McNeese State College where he earned his BS in Mathematics. After graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corp and was stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey.
Lester was an elementary school teacher and school bus driver. He published a Catholic Newspaper and made weekly deliveries to the Lake Arthur area. Lester was a golf course project manager and served as club professional. Most recently, he was an independent insurance agent and owned the Stanley & Associates Insurance Agency. Lester was an active member in the local church, initially at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, then Immaculate Conception Cathedral and most recently, Our Lady Queen of Heaven.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Janice Rae Mallett Stanley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda LeBleu Stanley and his two sons, Lester Stephen Stanley, Jr and wife Cheri of Houston, TX and Derrick B. Stanley and wife Jo, also of Houston. Those who will especially miss him are his two grandchildren, Stephanie Stanley and Patrick Stanley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 3PM-6PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 5PM with a Funeral Service at 6PM officiated by Deacon George Carr.
