Letha Cormier Vincent, 80, of Lake Charles, LA died on Friday, December 19, 2014 in a local hospice facility. Mrs. Vincent was born on April 2, 1934 in Lake Charles, LA where she resided all of her life. In her earlier years she enjoyed cooking for her family and did a good job at it. She enjoyed going to a good french dance and later she would watch her husband play the accordion with his band. She belonged to the Cajun French Music Association. Mrs. Vincent also spent her time gardening, cooking and canning, and sewing. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a Lay Minister and belonged to the Women's Altar Society. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Martin Van Vincent; six sons and their spouses, Randy Cormier and Kathy of Lake Charles, Kermit Cormier and Yvonne of Youngsville, Gibson Cormier Jr. and Jana of Fort Worth, TX, Gordon Cormier of Lake Charles, Neal Cormier and Lena of Lake Charles, and Chris Cormier and Sandi of Fort Worth, TX; nine step children and their spouses, Jeanie Savant and Ted of Indian Village, Susie Reed and David of Big Lake, Sally Compton and Tom of Hathaway, Brian Vincent and Susan of Lake Charles, AJ Vincent of Lake Charles, Michael Vincent and Lynette of Lafayette, Billy Vincent and Lauren of Lake Charles, Cynthia Austin and Gregory Allen of Moss Bluff, and Eddie Jolie and Laurie of Lake Charles; nine siblings, Louise McCardle, Thelma Shepherd, Nadel Gaspard and wife Beverly, Nolan Gaspard, Enell Nash, Gerdell Theriot, and Sylvia Mangum and husband Harold all of Lake Charles, Nelvia Murphy and husband Guy of Creole, and John Gaspard and wife Sharon of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Bryant, Joshua, G.J., Maranda, Jed, Haley, and Jessica Cormier; twenty-five step grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Emily and Eason Cormier; and fourteen step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Telice and Raymond Gaspard; her first husband and the father of her sons, Gibson "Blackie" Cormier; two grandchildren, Jason and Jacob Cormier; a step daughter, Kathleen Vincent; and four siblings, Glyn Gaspard, Verda Williams, Kirby Gaspard and Carolyn Primeaux. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church. The Rev. Wayne LeBleu and Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a cursillo rosary being held at 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Michael Broussard and his staff with the Oncology department, to Dr. Peter Karam and his staff with Internal Medicine Clinic of Lake Charles , to Dr. Kathleen Schmeler at the Gynecologic Oncology department at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, and also to the entire staff at Harbor Hospice on Lake St.
