Lila Annette "Chookie" Harris Navarre, 76, passed away on March 4, 2025, in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was born on January 21, 1949, in Lake Charles where she is a decedent of one of the founding Lake Charles Families. Lake Charles is home, and the place where she raised a beautiful family, and served the Lord.
Annette met Michael Steve Navarre, the love of her life, and from that moment on, the two were inseparable. She dedicated many years of service to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Public Works West, retiring in 2009 as an Inventory Control and Purchasing Specialist. Known for her sharp mind, she was an exceptional bookkeeper and record keeper, always staying organized in her work.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, Annette was also a Cursillista, having attended Cursillo Retreat #2, and at one point proudly served on the Board of Directors for Right to Life.
Annette loved life. She loved dancing, cheering on her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints, and spending time on the water, especially saltwater fishing. Her dream was to one day catch a tagged redfish.
Above all else, family was everything to Annette. Her greatest joy was spending time with her eight children, 27 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, making memories that will be cherished by her sweet family. Annette was a phenomenal cook as the Matriarch of the family, which was one of the many things that attracted large crowds of friends and family.
Annette is survived by her husband of 25 years Michael Navarre; Her children Tara Louvier, Casey LeBrun (Dru), Micah LeBrun Coco, Daniel LeBrun (Sarah), Johnny LeBrun, Mickey Navarre (Dana), Corey Navarre (Melissa), Casey Fontenot (Steven); Her sister Carolyn Staples; her brother Steven Winterkorn; her 27 grandchildren and her 10 great grandchildren.
