Lillian C. Labove Barnhill

July 27, 1930 — February 14, 2022

Lillian C. LaBove Barnhill, 91, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Mrs. Barnhill was born on July 27, 1930 in Creole where she lived until moving to Hackberry at the age of 16.  Upon graduating from Hackberry High School, she moved to Lake Charles where she resided the duration of her life.  In these earlier years, she worked for a bank and at Kress’ Department Store before marrying and becoming a devoted wife and mother.  She later did volunteer work at Crossroads Catholic Books and Gifts for numerous years.  Mrs. Barnhill was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Her life was meant to be a wonderful mother and wife during which she cherished and adored her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Theresa “Terrie” Almeida of Lake Charles, Kevin Barnhill (Debbie) of Alexandria, and Darlene Boos (Kevin) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Kristy Sachs of Lake Charles, Joshua Soileau (Elysse) of Opelouses, Hope and Natalie Barnhill of Alexandria, and Sarah Abshire (Brandon), Christopher and Andrew Boos, and Bethany Soileau all of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Kenyon Beck, Casiel Sachs, Robert “RJ” and Julie Soileau, and Henry Abshire.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Barnhill; siblings, Lorena Duhon, and Milton, Emerson, and Belezaire LaBove; and a son in law, Lawrence David Almeida.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Lake City Baptist Church.  Father Brian King will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin in the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
