Lillian Marie Esthay of Lake Charles, LA, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, in a local hospital with her husband of 62 years, Durphy Esthay by her side. Lillian was born on January 19, 1938, in Lake Charles, LA to Claiborne and Mamie Benoit Landry.
She worked for several years as a personal secretary for the engineering department of the state of Texas. After retirement, Lillian and Durphy moved back to Lake Charles.
One of her favorite things to do was to make rosaries for anyone who needed one whether they were at the church or in the hospital. She was affectionately known as “The Rosary Lady”. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Lillian was a loving person who gave her love freely. She was always available to help anyone with their cooking or serving them in any way that she could. She loved her French Music and dancing along with it.
Though she had no children of her own, she loved spending time loving on her many nieces and nephews.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Linda Aucoin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Durphy Esthay, and her sister Lois Doucet. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, along with many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 8:30-10:30AM. A rosary will be said at 10:30 followed by the funeral services, conducted by Fr. Roland Vaughn, at 11AM. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
