Lillian "Sue" Brooks

May 18, 1935 — February 10, 2022

Lillian “Sue” Brooks, 86, went to her Heavenly reward on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Sue was born in Kentucky and has resided in Sulphur for over 54 years. She formerly worked as a nurse for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Sue was also a Notary Public, she obtained her real estate license and opened her own company, Haven Realty. Until her illness, she was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist and Belleview Baptist Church. Sue was always working for Jesus; as a member of the Gideon Auxiliary telling prisoners about Jesus and gifting bibles, opening her home to foster children, volunteering at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and her famous Sunday dinners after church to welcome to new families.

She was a very gentle woman with a giving and caring heart, but she was also a strong woman. Sue enjoyed writing poetry and she was an avid reader. She loved baking cakes for family and friends and was a wonderful seamstress who loved making clothes for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Barton “Eddie” Smith of Bridge City, TX; daughter, Karen Lynn Brooks of Sulphur; and stepson, Jace Brooks (Kirste) of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Kristin Lambert, Cory Smith, Amy Parrotta, Thomas Parrotta, Carter Brooks, Melissa Donnelly, Aidan Brooks, and Ally Brooks; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Espy (Mary) Terrell and Gene Terrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Cecil Arthur Brooks; daughter, Melody Jean Parrotta; brothers, Roy, Ray, Ralph, and Paul Wayne Terrell; and sisters, Bessie Evans, and Wilma Graves.

Services honoring the life of Sue will be held at 11am, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery North. Rev. Larry LaFleur will officiate. Visitation will be 5pm – 9pm, Monday, February 14, 2022, at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the aides who helped during Sue’s illness and to Harbor Hospice for the compassion and care given to their Mom. A special “Thank You” to a very close family friend, Jennifer Bankston, who always went above and beyond in caring for Sue.
