Lionel Joseph "Paw Paw" Elmer Sr., 78, of Lake Charles, Louisiana died at 10:40 AM Sunday, February 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Lionel was born May 8, 1935 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Ashton and Effie LeBlanc Elmer. Lionel was a Golden Glove boxing champion while attending Landry High School. Elmers radiatorshop was established in 1951. Lionel and wife Lollion became co-owners and operators of Lionel Elmer's Radiator shop in 1968. Lionel belonged to the Hecker Hunting Club, Crusin Cajuns Motor Home Association and Bayou Ramblers Motorcycle Club where he raced professionally. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Lake Charles. Most of all he loved fishing and hunting and being around family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Lollion Frieu Elmer; one son, Lionel J. Elmer Jr. and wife Pamela Ann Menard; three daughters, Paulette Elmer Solari and husband Russell, Angelia Elmer Parrett and husband Harold, and Pamelia Elmer Villa all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, two sisters, Amy Elmer Romero and Marjorie Elmer Hebert, and ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Lionel is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Lollion Villa Tupper. Pallbearers include Lionel J. Elmer III, Guy Christopher Soileau, Derek Reese Soileau, Harold R. Parrett, Fabian Nicholas Parrett, and Archie S. Hebert, Jr. Services will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate services.
