Lionel Joseph T-Boy Labove

Mr. Lionel Joseph "T-Boy" LaBove, 64, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011.


He was a native of Lake Charles and a resident of Grand Lake. For many years, Mr. LaBove was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church where he was an usher. He was very strong in his faith and dedicated to his church and prayer, as exemplified through his service as a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Mr. LaBove worked for Evangeline Maid Bread for 26 years and retired from E.A. Sween-Deli Express. He was voted outstanding vendor in Southwest Louisiana in 1995 and was also a member of the Krewe De Deaux Lac which he was king in 1995.


Mr. LaBove was a loving, happy and devoted family man and a true friend to those in his life. It was often said that he never met a stranger. Serving others brought him great satisfaction. He also enjoyed, hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp with friends and family.


Mr. LaBove is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Delores Theriot LaBove; daughter, Sheila LaBove Ford and husband Dr. Thomas Ford of Lake Charles; son, Shayne LaBove and wife Jeannie of Grand Lake; grandchildren, Justin and Aaron Newman, Trenton LaBove, Brittanie Manuel and Lyndsey Reed; step grandchildren, Phillip Broussard, Logan and Emily Ford, and Meredith and Kevin Brassette; and siblings, Leora Granager of Grand Lake, Larry LaBove of Cleveland, Texas, and Gloria "Deanie" and Tony Sullivan, also of Grand Lake.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John Savan and Ina Peshoff LaBove; sister, Sylvia Schultz, and brother, John D. LaBove.


Funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Interment will follow at Grand Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 3 until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6p.m.


Pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Ford, Tony Sullivan, Sam Daigle, Ollin Saltzman, Mike Young, and Darren Labove.
