Lisa Michelle Kennedy

August 30, 1961 — May 31, 2024

Lisa Michelle Kennedy of Carlyss, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 62. She was a woman that impacted so many people’s lives with her zest for life and giving nature. Lisa was born on August 30, 1961, in 8 Mile, Alabama to Alma (Peggy) Meche and Earl Kennedy, but moved to Westlake, Louisiana when she was 5. She was a 1979 graduate of Westlake High School.

She worked at Lake City Printing and Port Printing as a typesetter, and most recently she worked for Southwest Daily News on the editorial design staff. She would occasionally go out in the community for a news story and/or photograph and always relished in the connections she would make and the stories she would hear. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 19 years, of which her family and friends were incredibly proud. She graduated from Delta School of Business in the 1980s with an Executive Secretary degree.

In her free time, she loved hitting the road on motorcycles, reading books, feeding people homecooked food, doting on her grandchildren, doing remodel projects around the house and trying her hand at gardening. When she was traveling, you can bet she had an eye out for any babbling brook to dip her toes in. She also looked forward to and cherished that first cup of coffee in the morning.

She leaves behind her husband, Robert Bridge Jr. of Carlyss; mother, Alma (Peggy) Meche, of Westlake; two children, Jessica Lee Ann Bowers of Holmwood and Rebekah Michelle Kelley (James) of Schofield Barracks, HI; two step-children, Emily Wallace (Jody), of Galveston and Robert Bridge III of Carlyss; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two grandkitties; two brothers, David Kennedy (Jackie) of Westlake and Alan Kennedy of Moss Bluff; sisters, Tammy Fontenot (Ronald) of Dequincy, Cindy McClure (Scottie) of Mobile, AL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Kennedy; her stepfather, Percy Meche; and her nephew, Jason Kennedy.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the staff of Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for their love, care and support of Lisa and her family and friends in her final days. They are eternally grateful.

Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2024,  from 11-2pm followed immediately by a memorial service at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur, La.

Lisa would be bumfuzzled and flummoxed by all the hullabaloo, but she was an extraordinary and loved woman.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Harbor Foundation or Tulane Comprehensive Stroke Center in honor of Lisa and other stroke survivors and victims.
