Lloyd F. Scott, 90, of Lake Charles, LA was called home by his heavenly father on Sunday, February 6, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mr. Scott was born April 1, 1920 in Vicksburg, MS and served with the CCC's in California from 1936 to 1939. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II, serving in the Canal Zone and retired with the Air Force Reserves as a medical administration specialist after thirty-three years. He completed medical administration courses at the University of Alabama and finished his career as Master-Sergeant. Mr. Scott retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty years as a rural letter carrier. He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and served as 3rd Degree Grand Knight and 4th Degree Faithful Navigator with the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Scott served as a past president of the National Association of Federal Employees and secretary / treasurer of the Rural Letter Carrier's Association of Louisiana. Lloyd was also a lifelong member of the VFW Post #2130. Mr. Scott was a very caring, generous, and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He was an avid gardener and loved his Pomeranian, Dolly, which preceded him in death. His passionate and sincere love for the Native Americans throughout his lifetime finally revealed a surprising connection through a recent ancestry search.
Mr. Scott leaves to cherish his memories his wife of sixty-six years, Camille Lisotta Scott; children, Marilyn Dougherty (Darrell) of Pocatello, ID, Frank Scott (Cheri) of Edgewood, NM, Ginger Hays (Calvin) of Conroe, TX, and Jeffrey Scott (Barbara) of Eugene, OR; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Calvin Hays.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 10:15AM.
