Lloyd Paul Dubois

May 10, 1923 — January 30, 2022

Lloyd Paul Dubois, 98, passed away in his home on Sunday, January 30, 2022.  He was born on May 10, 1923 to Drozin and Antoinette Broussard Dubois on Avery Island, LA.

Mr. Dubois attended New Iberia High School.  He served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific.  While in service he taught Morse Code in Florida.  He was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, and an usher at St. Margaret’s church and OLQH for over fifty years.  He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 4562.  After WWII, Lloyd became a sheet metal worker in the family business of Dubois Sheet Metal leading him to move to Lake Charles.  He enjoyed playing church league softball.  Finding enjoyment in the outdoors; fishing, hunting, and shrimping were some of his favorite pastimes.  Aways willing to lend a helping hand, no person would go without.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Deborah Holmes of Sour Lake, TX, Lonnie Dubois of Katy, TX, Rebecca Lognion (David) of Lake Charles, La, Tina Hebert (Mark) of Lake Charles, LA, Robert Dubois of Iowa, LA, and Richard Dubois (Marla) of Carlyss, LA; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Mary Rose Dubois, his parents, and eleven siblings.  He was the last of twelve children.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.  Father Levi Thompson will serve as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Prien Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation on Tuesday evening will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at University Baptist Church, located at 4505 Lake St., with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at University Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until leaving in procession to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.

The family of Mr. Dubois would like to send a special thank you for the care and attention of Dr. Michael Seep, as well as his at-home caregivers, especially Pamela Davis, to whom he shared true friendship.
