Lloyd Pete Byler

Pete Byler, 80, of Missouri City, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017.  Pete was born in Lake Arthur, LA and raised in Hackberry, LA.  He is survived by his wife, Yvonne E. Byler; his daughter, Jill Byler-Harrison and husband, Glenn Gagnon; one son, Christopher del Corey Byler and wife Jennie; grandsons, Rusty Byler, Courtland Harrison, David Harrison, and Logan Byler; granddaughters, Kendra Byler-Phipps, Annette Abshire, Amber Byler-Billedeaux and Chrissy Byler; as well as numerous great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darcy Roxane Byler; his son, Troy Patrick Byler; his father, Peter Lloyd Byler; and his mother, Annette Byler. 

Pete proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  After serving, he joined Conoco Oil Company in 1961 and attended night school at the University of Houston where he graduated.  In 1974, he joined Saber Energy where he eventually became president in 1979.  He left Saber in 1982 to form his own company, Enjet, LLC, which was purchased by affiliates of Apex Oil Company, Inc. of St. Louis, MO in 2002.  Pete retained the title of president of Enjet until the time of his death.  He was a pioneer and highly regarded expert in the heavy petroleum products trading field.

Pete was both loved and respected by all who knew him well.  He had a great wit, a wonderful sense of humor and a generous, loving heart.  Among his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Pete loved to hunt, read, watch good television and work.  He loved holding court at his desk and entertaining everyone around him.  There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. 

A memorial service for Pete will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Hackberry with Father Gijo Ikkanamatom, H.G.N. officiating.  Burial will follow in Hackberry Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the church hall from 9 am until the time of service with a rosary recited at 10:30 AM.
