Lola Elizebeth Simmons Young, 84, of Lake Charles, LA died on Thursday, November 14, 2013 in her residence. Mrs. Young was born May 7, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL, traveled the country following her husband's Air Force Career and settled in Lake Charles fifty-five years ago. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for twenty-nine years and a lifetime Auxiliary member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association. She was very spiritual at heart and valued family above all else. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bingo, and photography. Mrs. Young is survived by her children, Gery Benton and husband Barry of West Monroe, LA, Janis Hall of Lake Charles, and Russell Young and wife Jackie of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Jason Young of Lake Charles, Kari Vincent of Sulphur, Drew Benton and Morgan Benton, both of West Monroe, LA, Jacob Hall of Lake Charles, Jordan Hall of Arkansas, and Joshua Hall of Lake Charles; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Schoener, Dyllan Young, and Collyne Crochet; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison "Hank" Young. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The American Legion Unit 1 Auxiliary Unit will lead. A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
