Lola M. Carpenter

July 6, 1938 — December 22, 2011

Lola Mary Frieu Carpenter, was born July 6, 1938 in Lake Charles and died December 22, in her home where she lived for the past twenty-six years.


A life resident of Lake Charles, Mrs. Carpenter graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1956 and worked as a secretary for Harbor Docking and Towing for many years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and also a member of the Serra Club. Mrs. Carpenter was an active member of the Pioneer Club, the Republican Women and the Lake Charles Symphony Board.


She survived by her daughter, Crystal von Rosenberg and her husband Randall of Zachary, La.; three sisters Lollion Elmer, Della Hoffpauir, and Rena Trahan; five grandsons, Joshua Corman and his wife Jennifer and their daughter Taylor, and Seth Corman all of Lake Charles and Zachary, Gabe, and Grant vonRosenberg all of Zachary.


Her husband, George D. Carpenter, her daughter Jackie Marcantel, and her parents Paul and Orena Bertrand Frieu and brother, Paul Frieu, Jr. preceded her in death.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home and on Saturday beginning at 8:00 AM. A rosary will be recited at 6:15 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel.


The family would like to thank Dr. James P. Gaharan, Odyssey Hospice, and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Home Health Caretakers for her care during her illness.
