Lora Louise Wrigley

January 8, 1937 — September 9, 2013

Lora Louise Wrigley, 76, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, September 9, 2013, in her home. She was born January 8, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Russell Lyle Wrigley and Leola Gladys Ledbetter Wrigley. She was a loving mother and caring friend to many.

Lora was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University.

Her favorite word was JOY. She found joy in everythingher Christian faith, family, friends, and her cherished rescue dog, Chipper.

Lora's home was a tapestry of her life and filled with meaning and color. Purple ruled. Collections of angels, pandas, books and travel memorabilia covered the walls and filled the shelves. And, she had a story to share about everything.

She enjoyed needlework, reading, and learning about new things with Southern Gospel hymns often playing in the background.

As an elementary school teacher, she made sure that her students, and her two boys, experienced the wonder and beauty of this world during their childhood. Later in life, she volunteered her time in helping adults learn how to read.

She would often say, A happy memory is a joy.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, David Glenn Abrahams and Steven Garey Abrahams of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Jonathon David Abrahams and wife Hollie, Kimberly Ann Abrahams and Henry Adam Abrahams, II; and two great grandchildren, Jonathon Owen and Olivia Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Justin Paul Abrahams.

A celebration of Lora's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor John Astling will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.

The family would like to thank the friendly and caring staff of Harbor Hospice, Evangeline Home Health, Lafayette General Medical Center, Acadian Ambulance, and Johnson Funeral Home for the compassionate care given their beloved mother. A special note of appreciation to Lora's grandson, Henry, and her friend, Cindy Hebert, for their many visits and thoughtfulness.
