“FOR THE LORD LOVES THE JUST AND WILL NOT FORSAKE HIS FAITHFUL ONES: (Psalms 37:28)
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by his daughter Karen and close friends, Laral gained his angelic wings and entered into his heavenly home.
Laral was born on November 12, 1938 to his parents Joe and Verdie Mae Lafleur. He attended Sacred Heart School. While there, he met his future bride Annette Delahousaye. Laral enlisted into the US Army in 1956. He and Annette married in 1958 and to this union, three children were born, Karen, Kim and Lennie. Laral and Annette were married for 65 years. Laral was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Cathedral where he proudly served as an usher for both churches.
Laral worked for over 30 years at Himont. After retiring, he realized that he was bored so he worked another 15 years for the Lake Charles City Marshal’s office under the administration of Joey Alcede. Laral had many friends, and one group in particular was the Seven G’s Social Club. He also loved to entertain at his home where there was always a good time to be had. His ribs were absolutely yummy!!! He and Annette also loved to travel. They had great travel adventures, Many of those with their lifelong friends, Gene and Phyllis Thibodeaux, which included Las Vegas, San Destin, Fl, San Francisco and Italy, to name a few.
Laral was preceded in death by his wife, Annette and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Karen LaFleur; daughter, Kim Lafleur; son, Lennie Lafleur (Amanda), granddaughters Hannah and Harper LaFleur all of Lake Charles; and grandson Alex Lafleur (Olivia) of Pensacola Fl.
A special thank you is also extended to Dale Alsandor and Carol Marden who provided exceptional care, love and compassion during Laral’s trying times; and to Heart of Hospice and to Elva Jones and Patsy Winters of Lee Anna Stevens’ Home Health Service. Their genuine service and commitment will always be cherished.
To honor Laral’s memory, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Disabled Veterans, the local animal shelter or to the charitable organization of your choice.
