Lorena Shepherd Yelverton

Lorena Shepherd Yelverton, 90, of Lake Charles died at 12:08 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in her residence. Mrs. Yelverton was born on November 1, 1923 in New Iberia and was raised in Rayne before moving to Lake Charles in the early 1940's. She was a member of Glad Tidings Church and was a mighty prayer warrior. Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters and their husbands, Jane Smith and Greg of Ragley, Gail Brame and Kirk of Lake Charles, and Sonya Boudreaux and Randy of Lake Charles; a sister, Lois Myers of Rayne; two brothers and their wives, Robert Myers and Lorraine of Rayne and Roy Myers and Anne of California; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, George Shepherd and Jack Yelverton; a daughter, Patricia Shepherd; and five siblings. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will be held at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
