Loreta S. Cormier passed away peacefully on December 5, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Loreta was born on April 16, 1926, to Claudia and Antoine Stelly in Rayne, Louisiana. Ms. Loreta, or Mom , as she was known by everyone loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grand children. She was also known for her dancing ability along with her love for bingo and boo-ray. Anyone and everyone were always welcome in her home. Ms. Loreta, Mom, retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board after serving for 30 years as a cafeteria worker. Ms. Loreta is survived by six grand children: a grand daughter, Lisa (Rick) Maddox; five grandsons: Brian (Jonna) Sweeney, Michael (Tammy) Cormier, Chris Cormier, Terry Sweeney, Jr., David Benoit. She is also survived by one sister, Helena Cormier. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Loreta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emile Cormier, and two children, Clifton Cormier and Judy Sweeney. She is also preceded by two brothers: Preston Stelley and Wilton Sweeney, and two sisters, Ludie Thibodeaux and Lula Hollier. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM. at Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Jim Winiarski officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m.
