Loretta Roubaud Ellis

Loretta went to be with the Lord, August 19 2022.  A memorial service was held

Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, Ms. with Reverend Brother Steven C. McDonald officiating.

Loretta was born on September 5, 1938 on Labor Day to R.E. Roubaud and Tressie Clark Roubaud Carter and was a lifelong resident of Louisiana. She and her family moved to Vidalia in 1955 from New Orleans where she attended Warren Easton High School,  and in 1956  she graduated from Vidalia High School. She worked for many years doing clerical/secretarial work; worked in the orthotics and prosthetics field and at home as a seamstress.

Loretta’s strong faith was the foundation for all else in her life and she considered her most important job to be that of a devoted caregiver to daughter Susan and supporting activities at Pleasant Acre Day School. Her greatest joy was singing, she was a member of her church choir for 56 years and sang in various community and holiday programs throughout her life.

 She knew every word from Rogers and Hammerstein’s Broadway musical productions and would not miss a daily episode of Jeopardy.

She was proceeded in death by her parents,  a younger brother Randy Roubaud and brother-in-law, James N. Ogden, Jr.

Survivors include her four daughters, Donna  Ellis Duhon (Raymond), Dee Dee Ellis Hammett (Clay), Wanda Ellis,  Susan Ellis, grandsons, Bryant O’Dare Hammett II “Boh” and Albert Clayton Hammett, Jr. “Bert”, sister and prayer partner Sharon Rouband Ogden, nieces, Denise Ogden Nelson and Elise Ogden McKinney.
