Lou Annette Mott Stelly, 88, of Iowa passed away at 1:45 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2022 in a Welsh nursing home.
Mrs. Stelly was born on July 11, 1934 to Claude and Ethel Mott in Welsh, LA. She was the second of seven children and the oldest daughter. Lou Attended Lacassine High School and worked in retail and as a bank teller. Her most important job was to help her parents in their grocery store and was always there for them.
She was the oldest sister and was always available if her siblings or their children needed her. Lou always helped her children and took care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would drop everything if any of her family needed something. Unfortunately, because of her advanced dementia she has not been able to communicate with or recognize her loved ones for some time now. In her spare time, she loved sewing, reading, and shopping and had a passion for shoes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Kathy Ashford (Willie), Tony Stelly (Pam), and Mark Stelly (Mary) all of Iowa; three sisters, Yannie Prudhomme, Naomi LeBlanc, and Elaine Broussard; nine grandchildren, Hope Brasseaux (Stanley), Faith Roussell, Leslie Ashford, Candace McGee, Kristi Ashford, Amber Guillory (Russell), Joel Stelly (Leslie), Ryan Stelly (Saige), and Travis Stelly; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter and another one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wilton Stelly; her parents; three siblings; a granddaughter; a great grandson; and a niece.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa. The very Reverend Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Age Nursing Home of Welsh and Christus Hospice and Palliative Care St. Patrick, especially Bailey and Ashley, for the care given to their mother.
