Lou Ella Champagne

April 14, 1931 — March 13, 2022

Lou Champagne, 90, a tiny, sweet little cajun girl, now still a tiny, sweet little rebel antique lady loved passionately by all who knew her, decided to move on to greater adventures in her heavenly home on March 13, 2022, at 3:47 p.m. as her daughter held her in her final moments along with D.E.

Born on April 14th, 1931, to her fine parents, Arthur and Louise Moore in their home in Gueydan.

Lou lived an adventurous country-girl life and grew to be a strong young woman full of love for life causing her to tell her young man she was going to marry him.  Within two months, Lou was sharing adventures of camping, fishing, traveling finding new adventures wherever she was, especially in her love of mountains which she led her whole family into doing the same.  That spunkiness was what made her unique and so loveable.  Oh, she didn't stop there.  Her creativity and spice of life spilled into her cooking creating her famous "Lou Ella gravy" for folks from Texas to North Carolina as well as her rice dressing and luscious coconut cakes.  And no one could resist her hot coffee, warm hospitality and comfort.

Her hands were gifted as well in oil paintings and carpentry.  Once, as a girl, she helped her dad take down their house in the country and reconstruct it in Lake Arthur board by board and then later helping in the building of her own home with Champ in Lake Charles.

What a beautiful and bountiful legacy of talent, hospitality, and a positive look on life with a strong will and work ethic.  She loved a challenge and never gave up.  We see part of her in all of us individually which makes for a beautiful family with the LORD at the center of our lives.

Those of us left to carry on her legacy are honored to do so; her loving daughter Carrie Northcutt and husband Don (D.E.); granddaughter Tammy McCartney and husband James; great granddaughter, Sarahann Miller and husband Phillip and children, Charlie Marie, Houston Brooks and Brooklyn Rayne; great granddaughter Katelynn Curtis and husband Jonathan and children Jameson Welch and Weston James; great grandson Austin McCartney and wife Abby and children Adilynn Grace and Aspen EzRene’; grandson Donnie Northcutt and wife Karen; great granddaughters; Amanda Churchman and husband Tyler and children Maisie  and Callan; Emily Partin and husband Payton; granddaughter Jennifer Barker and husband Lance and children Alexander and William;  Jessica Thibodeaux and husband David; grandson Jeremy.

Those she joined in glory include; her loving husband Euphord “Champ” Champagne; parents Arthur and Louise Moore; son Euphord Patrick Champagne; siblings Lee Allen Moore and Sandy Disbrow.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur, La.  Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles at 9 AM, Monday, March 21, 2022.  Visitation will be 4 PM – 8 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home and resume on Sunday at 11 AM till time of service.

The family would like to say thank you to Miss Robin Shaw for the wonderful home care and Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for the care and compassion they showed.
