Lou Anna Ellzey Gray, known by her family as "Mama Lou," passed away in her residence on November 29th, 2013 at 2:00 AM in Westlake, Louisiana, at the age of 78. Mrs. Gray was born on February 18, 1935 to the parents of Eulahia and Camille Grimes in Hessmer, Louisiana . She was a 1952 graduate of Hessmer High School. She was co-owner of Dup's Seafood & Steakhouse, Captain with Wells Fargo, Wackenhut, and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office upon retiring. Her hobbies include Marksmanship, gardening, fishing, bowling, reading, and sewing. Mrs. Gray was of the Catholic Faith. Mrs. Gray is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee Ellzey, Sr., her son, Eddie Lee "Snoopy" Ellzey, Jr., one brother, Camille M. Grimes, her mother, Eulahia Dauzat Grimes and her father, Camille Grimes. She is survived by her daughter, Shonda Ellzey Appleby, her sons, Arthur Michael Ellzey and Dana Angelo Ellzey and wife Renee Parker Ellzey, grandchildren, Jacob Daren Appleby, Morgan Leanne Appleby, Michael Lee "Boo" Ellzey, Isaac Ellzey, Whitney Ellzey, Jeremy Ellzey, Robbie Ellzey, and Lori Ellzey Roach, and several great grandchildren; sister, Louella Grimes Feasel and husband, Daniel Feasel, sister, Mary Lee Ladner, sister, Ethel Champagne, and brother, Andrew Grimes. Her funeral will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon Garrett Caraway will officiate. Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the time of services on Sunday. She will be greatly missed for her unconditional love for her family and friends and strong family values. Her biggest passion was spending time with her family. Special thanks to her longtime caregiver and friend, Janice, and her family, Carmen, Lori, and all the staff of Heart of Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be Jacob Daren Appleby, Michael Lee Ellzey, Isaac Ellzey, Glen Vamvoras, Brent Miller, and Chad Miller.
