Louis Benoit

Louis Benoit, 87, of Lake Charles died at 1:25 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016 in a local care facility.

 

Mr. Benoit was born on May 14, 1929 in Scott, LA and had resided in Jennings, Welsh, and New Orleans before settling in Moss Bluff in 1968. He attended Marion High School before serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a paratrooper. He retired from the Carpenter’s Union No 953 after 40 years of service yet continued in the construction field until the mid 1990’s.

 

He will be remembered for his dedication and passion for hunting and fishing. Mr. Benoit was known for farming honey bees and also for his extravagant garden.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are a Godson, Chris LaFleur of Moss Bluff; a brother, Carroll Joseph Benoit of Winnsboro, TX; a sister, Della Greenwell of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Benoit; his parents, Edesse and M.J. Benoit; and nine siblings, Forrest Benoit, Mae Nelson, Hazel Brehm, Ida Thurman, Hilda Young, Ethel Godeaux, and Lena, Dewey, and Bertha Benoit.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Welsh Catholic Church Cemetery with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
