Louis George Benglis, 60, of Carlyss died on Monday, June 17, 2013 in his residence.
Mr. Benglis was born on October 16, 1952 in Sulphur and lived all of his life in Carlyss. He was a tug boat captain prior to working for Citgo. He retired as a boiler maker after 32 years of service. Mr. Benglis was also a master craftsman. He was of the Greek Orthodox faith.
He was an avid motorcyclist. He belonged to the Harley Owners Group and also was a member of the local group, Hogs and A Wing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Melany Benglis Vest and fiance' Jonathan Hornsby of Lake Charles; two brothers, Ernest George Benglis and Lemule George Benglis both of Carlyss; three grandsons, Michael Louis, Sage Hunter, and Grant Hadley Vest all of Lake Charles; and a close friend, Bonnie Gilley of Moss Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Mae and George A. Benglis; and a brother, Steve George Benglis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Mike Tramel will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
