Louis Joseph Mere, Jr., 63, of Moss Bluff passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 in a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Mere was born and raised in Lake Charles and has lived the past thirty-six years in Moss Bluff. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and Sowela Technical School. He retired, Senior Machinist with Citgo Petroleum after thirty-eight of service. He was a member of the NRA, LC Archery and Machinist Local Lodge #470. Mr. Mere was an avid outdoorsman, loving bow hunting, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed wood working, and welding. He was very proud of his Cajun Heritage, taking pride in cooking and gatherings with family and friends. Mr. Mere's greatest joy was his three daughters, and greatest times, those he shared with them. He will be most remembered as a Christian man of faith and loving father.
He leaves to honor his memory, his mother, Esther Esthay Mere of Lake Charles; three daughters, Monica Gay Mere, Madeleine Olivia Mere and Michaela Mae Mere, all of Lake Charles; four sisters, Mary Jane Mere Bertrand of Scott, twin sister, Lois Mere Darbone and husband Clayton and Doris Mere Voussine and husband Joe and Kathy Mere Leger and husband Woody, all of Sulphur and Godchild, Clay Darbone, Jr. of Moss Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Joseph Mere.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
