Louis Roy Jr., 76 of Lake Charles, LA was called to be with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
He was born in Lake Charles, LA on August 10, 1944 to Louis Sr. and Alma Marie Roy and was a life long resident to Southwest Louisiana.
“ Roy” as he was known to all, worked at Weingarten’s as the Meat Market Manager for seventeen years, before opening Roy’s Meat Market in Moss Bluff in 1980. His smiling face and cheery demeanor always met you as you entered his establishment to get a taste of his fine Cajun cooking and sausage.
Although his passion was cooking, his true passion was his family and faith. As a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, he served as an usher, opening the doors, inviting in his fellow parishioners for over thirty years. He was a proud father and step-father, sharing his love of faith, family and the secrets of his cooking with them. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and was a past president of the Cajun French Music Association.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of thirty-one years, Barbara Roy, a step-son, Scott Romero; two grandchildren, Devin Roy and Cynthia Villejoin and step-grandson, Cody Romero.
Those left to cherish his memory are; his children, Kevin Louis (Donna) Roy of Ragley, LA, Keith M. (Allison) Roy of Katy, TX, Kayla S.(Ted) Villejoin of Bridge City, TX, Kristi (Andy) Cates of Ragley, LA; step children, Donna (Curtis) Cole of Lake Charles, LA, Chad Romero and Fiancée Terry Johnson and Lake Charles, LA; twenty-two grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; siblings, Theresa Jones, Donald (Nancy) Roy, Geraldine Meche Deshotel, Carol (Walter) Hannah.
The family will welcome friends at Lake City Baptist Church on Monday, February 1, 2021 beginning at 3pm to 7pm, with a Rosary at 6pm. Lake City Baptist is located at 3940 Holly Hill Rd. Lake Charles, LA 70601. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church beginning at 10am with burial to follow at Consolata Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for taking such good care of Mr. Roy.
