Louise Mary Bertrand

Louise Mary (Parker) Bertrand, 97, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully, with a smile on her face and a prayer on her lips, in her daughter's residence, Thursday, December 29, 2011.


She was a native and Lifelong resident of Lake Charles and a graduate of Central School and Lake Charles High School. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Bertrand worked at Mullers for several years. When her son-in-law Dr. Ben Guilbeau began his medical practice in Lake Charles, she went to work for one week, just to help the opening of his new office, and one week turned into eighteen years as the office manager. She was a member of The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and the Catholic Daughters of America, receiving her thirty year membership medal.


Survivors include two daughters, Joanna Bertrand Guilbeau and husband Dr. Ben Guilbeau and Susan Bertrand Simmons all of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Benjamin Joseph Guilbeau, Jr. and wife Jill, Laura Landry and husband Shannon, Tracie Wilfer and husband Randy, and Steven Simmons and wife Annette; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph August Bertrand; her parents, Luther James Parker Sr. and Elizabeth Teall Parker; two sisters Elizabeth Rutherford and Etta Mae Bertrand, and a brother Luther J. Parker, Jr.


Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday with rosary being recited at 5:30 PM, and continue from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Saturday in the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School (ICCS) Fund.
