Loyd was raised in Vivian, LA where is attended north Caddo High School and was a star basketball and football player his entire high school career. After graduating, he moved to the Houston area and worked as a Master Butcher most of his life. Settling in Shephard, TX, where he lived the remainder of his life.

Loyd was a kind and gentle man and was known to most everyone as PawPaw. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and loved attending all of their games, athletic events and activities. Loyd was living his best life when spending time on the water at Lake Livingston, boat riding, slinging the grandkids on the tube, out fishing everyone, and camping with family and friends.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Loyd Jeter, step-mother, Dixie Jeter, and mother, Eula Pearl LaPlant. He was also preceded by his old girl, Tootie, who was his loyal companion for the last 16 years, she passed away just 30 minutes before he passed at a local vets office.
