Lucille Grace Childress, 79, of Lake Charles died on Friday, October 28, 2011 in a local care facility.


Lucille was born in Cottonport, LA on January 19, 1932 and lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She was a retired seamstress from Love's Men's Store and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.


She and her husband, Milburn loved traveling and dancing. Her hobbies included playing cards with her friends and painting scenes of Louisiana. She was an avid Astros fan and loved cheering on the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.


Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Charlotte Childress of Sugarland, TX, Ronald Childress and wife Patty, and Craig Childress and wife Lisa all of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Heather Turquette, Ryan Granger, Erica Barrios, Alan Childress, Abby Devall, and Brian Childress; and six great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Milburn Childress; her parents, Marie and Albert Marcotte; two sisters, Leola Chenevert and Doris Kelly; a nephew, Jerry Chenevert; and a great grandson, Luke Turquette.


A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles McMillin will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
