Lucille Louise Laughlin Perry, 84, of Lake Charles, died Saturday April 12, 2014 at a local care facility. Lucille was born in the Light and Tie community near Branch, Louisiana. She was a talented lady with many skills, from working in a café in her younger years to working as a nurse's aide, to her most accomplished role of being a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucille was a Christian and longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Gillis. She was also known to be an excellent hostess with outstanding cooking skills. Her home was always a place to celebrate holidays, birthdays and special events. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Bentley and Elma Stark Laughlin; siblings, Cloyd Laughlin, Clarence Drew Laughlin, Emmit Laughlin, Joe Lester Laughlin, and Mary Luvicy Hoffpauir; and grandson, David Craig Hodge. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 67 years, E.D. Perry; seven children, Carolyn Cruze and husband Donnie, Sandra Dowden and husband Tommy, Melanie Perry, Evia Perry Hodge, Edna Little, Ed Perry and wife Cathy, Robert Perry and wife Lori; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today, April 13, 2014 at Gillis Baptist Church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Monday at the church. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at the church with the Rev. Glenn George officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Jolie, Chris Cruze, Donald Hodge Jr., Cody Perry, Christian Perry and Andrew Oliver. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Extended Care of Southwest Louisiana and Dr. Ronald Lewis, Jr. for the loving care and support provided to not only our wife and mother, but to each of us during the past several weeks.
