Lucy Caroline "Carol" Borel

Lucy Caroline "Carol" Borel, 81, of Lake Charles went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:05 AM on Monday, April 7, 2014 in a local care facility surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Borel was born on May 8, 1932 in Orange, TX. She was raised in Oakdale where she was a graduate of Oakdale High School. Mrs. Borel resided in Lake Charles all of her adult life and was a very involved member of Sale Street Baptist Church and participated in the Craft Room making crafts for the women's ministry. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of more than 61 years, Joseph Robert "Bob" Borel; three daughters, Debbie Borel, Nanette Fontenot and husband Brad, and Tania Allen and husband Steve; a brother, John David Guree; and a sister, Doris Duck both of Oakdale; six grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Myers, Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Blake LeBlanc, Megan and Matt Hartman, Blake and Candice Monsour, Dr. Shelby and Dr. Tyler Hebert, and Erin and Stephen Forsse; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Relie Strother Guree and a brother, Larry LaBorde. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randy Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
